Shouldn't Food Taste Good? {Review + Giveaway}

[...I kinda love how huge this image is... probably because I couldn't agree with it more! Food should taste good, and  real food always does.]

If you've been following me on my old blog, you probably know by now that I'm a snackaholic. And it's not a bad thing at all. I'm actually quite proud about it! I love healthy snacks and believe snacking is an important part of a healthy and balanced diet. I eat meals and snacks every 3 hours or so, which is supposed to (I hope!) keep my metabolism going and prevent sugar lows and huge hunger spikes. It also makes portion control during meal time a whole lot easier.

For these reasons, I'm always on a look out for healthy and yummy snacks to recommend and share with you, to hopefully encourage you to snack smart.

A few weeks ago, I came across potato and tortilla chips by Food Should Taste Good (from now on referred to as FSTG because it's a mouthful haha). With its catchy name and crunchy products (I looove crunchy snacks!), I was immediately interested. It didn't take much time browsing the company website to realize that I indeed came across something great. This is what I call clean snacking! Clean products with maximum flavor made with simple, real, and minimal ingredients by a company that cares about quality and taste. Now that's what I'm talking about.

All of FSTG chips are:

  • All natural

  • Kosher

  • MSG-free

  • Low sodium

  • Trans fat free

  • Gluten free

  • Lactose free

  • Cholesterol free

  • No preservatives

  • A good source of dietary fiber

I couldn't find FSTG at my local supermarket, so I reached out to them. FSTG was happy to sponsor a review and a giveaway! I was told to choose any 5 flavors (from the current seventeen... seriously?! seventeen?!), and I decided to go with those that I normally don't see: Olive, Hemp, Chocolate, Kettle Corn, and Sweet Potato Salt+Vinegar. A few indecisive minutes, emails and days later, I found a treat at my door!

So here are my thoughts!

Olive: Loved it. I could definitely taste the olives in this chip! It contains real black, kalamata, and green olives and I could actually see little chunks of olive! This is a great chip for the olive lover, like myself.

Hemp: The hemp flavor was definitely subtle, but because I eat hemp seeds regularly, I could taste it! Otherwise, it is a lot like blue corn tortilla chip. For the blue corn tortilla chip lovers out there - this chip is for you! With the added health benefits of hemp (complete protein and high omega-3 content), you got yourself a winner. The chip is hardier and grainier than the other four I got to sample.

Chocolate: So... I love chocolate. Reeeally love chocolate. The good, real, dark kind. And I've never had chocolate tortilla chips, and boy was I excited for this one. This chip's sweetness is subtle, but the richness of cocoa is definitely there. It's also a little nutty and hardy like the hemp chip.

...The last two flavors, however, blew my tastebuds mind away!

Kettle Corn: Literally, wow. It's sweet. It's salty. It's crunchy. I couldn't get enough of this chip. The flavor is spot on - definitely tastes like good ole' kettle corn. I really love kettle corn and never did I think a tortilla chip could replace this love. But it did.

Sweet Potato Salt & Vinegar: This flavor is amazing. True to its name - it's the perfect combination of salty and sour. The chip itself is a different kind of crispy and crunchy that's unique to potato chips, and I absolutely love it! Like the Kettle Corn flavor, it blew me away.

In summary: I truly loved these flavors. I am so grateful for the company's generosity and the opportunity to share my thoughts with you.

I recommend that you browse through the FSTG website yourself. There is a perfect match for each and every one of you! And with each chip description, nutritional information, and list of ingredients also comes a list of recommended accompaniments. The website has a store locator, answers to FAQ’s, and a $1-off coupon! You can also buy FSTG products on Amazon!
